The Category 6A market continues to grow as more and more projects specify this cabling standard as their minimum requirement.
We now begin to see older and existing Category 6A installations that are maturing to the point where moves, adds and changes are being commanded by the end user. Traditionally, Cat6A cable has always been supplied on 500m drums. For the moves, adds and changes environment due to the lack of space and live activity it is not always practical to set up reeling rigs to install cables. This has created a demand for cable in a box, in much the same way that CAT6 has always been supplied. This demand is estimated to represent 20% of the current Cat6A market.
Cat6A cable historically has not been supplied in a box due to the sensitivity of the cable and its typical construction with shielding, the bend radius is larger, the cable is heavier and can be prone to snagging if not handled / pulled correctly.
Manufacturing and handling of this cable has improved over the years where we are now at a point that we can effectively offer this cable in a reelex box.
A REELEX box is a type of packaging used for winding cable products in a tangle and twist-free manner without the need of a wood or cardboard reel. It is sometimes referred to as a "pull box" and is a patented technology developed by REELEX Packaging Solutions
The REELEX box design captures the payout tube without the need for a locking ring and features payout holes that range from 60° in REELEX I coils to 60° and greater in REELEX II coils. Compared to traditional spools, REELEX coils can be packaged in a wider variety of options, from sustainable, low-waste packaging to complex custom containers.
